Mary Holm, P.T., is owner of Fitness Forum, with her husband, Dr. Byron Holm. She is an Indiana University graduate with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. Mary has had a dual career with 25 years experience in clinical physical therapy and as owner/manager of Fitness Forum. She has experience in general practice of physical therapy in out-patient, in-patient and homecare settings. As owner of Fitness Forum, Mary is responsible for the operations and a variety of programming emphasizing healthy lifestyle habits for prevention of disease and injury, and promotion of body, mind, and spirit fitness.
Mindy Troutner -Mindy and her husband James recently moved to Plymouth from Lincoln, Nebraska. She is currently the Operations Director of Fitness Forum Sports & Wellness at LifePlex with responsibilities in developing policy and procedure, daily operations, staffing, and computer technology development. Mindy has worked in Medically Based Fitness Centers for the past eight years. Her experience has included opening two facilities from the ground up. In Lincoln, Mindy worked as the Fitness Director of Madonna ProActive. Mindy graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BS degree in Fitness and Leisure with Marketing and Management. She is also certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Personal Trainer, Spinning Instructor, and Pilates instructor. Mindy has been on the board of the Nebraska Association for Exercise Physiologists for the past five years and VP for the past three. When not at work, Mindy enjoys spending time with her husband and any activity outdoors: running, biking, swimming, and hiking.
Vickie Beam, Fitness Forum Assistant Manager, and Certified Personal Trainer, began working at the Fitness Forum in 1997 as a fitness instructor. She is certified by the IFPA (International Fitness Professionals Association) as an Advanced Personal Trainer, and is CPR/AED certified. Vickie’s clients range from high school athletes to individuals desiring weight loss, to seniors needing assistance in a healthy lifestyle, to physically challenged and post rehabilitation patients. She has attended conferences on cancer wellness, and completed additional training in strength fitness and weight management. As assistant manager Vickie’s strives to make members feel welcome and comfortable. “The need is always there to keep people encouraged and motivated and to help them accomplish their goals.” With this in mind, Vickie developed Body in Balance, a group program for exercise and nutritional balance through education and hands on experience.
Aimee Clady - is the director for group exercise classes. Aimee began her fitness career at Fitness Forum from 1988 to 1992. Aimee is AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) certified as an aerobic instructor with additional training in Mat Science level 1 and 2. She is YogaFit Certified, and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified. Aimee also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Indiana University, 1993. Her nursing career spans from Intensive Care nurse to Certified Lactation Counselor where she met educational needs through private consultation and classes at Hendricks Community Hospital. In 1994 and ’95, Aimee provided team leading, patient care and education in the St. Vincent Hospital Cardiac Unit. She was a Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist from 1995 to 2002 and was responsible for initiating and progressing patient activity and exercise, as well as other responsibilities at St. Vincent Hospital. Aimee’s expertise both in the medical and exercise fields, and her leadership skills are a wonderful asset to our staff and a perfect match with Fitness Forum’s emphasis on exercise for prevention and treatment of disease.” states Mary Holm, owner of Fitness Forum. “Aimee personifies a healthy lifestyle. We are very excited to have her back on staff. In a short time she has provided increased choices for the community in our group exercise programs.” Aimee is currently teaching Step classes, Yoga, and Pilates, as well as scheduling and mentoring a staff of instructors for a variety of classes. Aimee is married with two sons and a daughter. She began her new position with Fitness Forum in June 2005.
Sandi Allen-has a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science with dual minors in Pre-Med and Biology. She has 6 years experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant and has several years experience in Aquatics. She holds several Certifications including American Red Cross Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor, CPR, AED and CPR Instructor and an ACE Personal Training certification. She is also a triathlete who has completed several half-Ironman events and is training for her first full Ironman in 2008. She teaches Finning and Cycling classes.
Mary Labuzienski, MS, CLL Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Laughter Leader - Mary works in close partnership with clients to help them identify and achieve their fitness and wellness goals. Masters degree prepared in preventive and rehabilitative health, and trained at Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute as a Mind/Body Specialist, Mary uses exercise, relaxation and other wellness practices to improve chronic health conditions, reduce risk factors for disease, and most importantly, improve the quality of each day. Specialty areas include: cardiac wellness, cancer wellness, holistic menopause, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, pain management, stress management, relaxation, weight loss, smoking cessation, humor, optimism and positive behavior change. Healthy pleasure, positivity and balance are the cornerstones of Mary’s approach to wellness.
Melody “Mel” Norton -Melody "Mel" Norton has worked for the Fitness Forum since January 2002. With the move into the new Fitness Forum Sports and Wellness, Mel has taken on the responsibility of Member Accounts Manager. Along with this position, she also holds certifications with AFAA(Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) for group fitness and personal training. She teaches classes and instructs personal training clients weekly. Mel also has had continuing education in step aerobics, senior fitness, childrens’ fitness, stress management, SilverSneaker MSROM and SilverSneaker Cardio Circuit. AED and CPR certifications are also held.
Mel’s love of teaching aerobics, learning new techniques to share with new clients and members blends well with her multiple responsibilities in teaching group exercise, instructing individuals with their fitness programs and managing member accounts.
In her past career with the Fitness Forum, Mel has directed summer 5K Kamps preparing runners for the local Labor Day Blueberry Stomp, organized a "home school" physical education program and created motivational contests to help members stay on track.
Mel has also been a key success factor in the Fitness Forum Ballroom Dance program, initiating the program in 2005.
In her spare time, when Mel isn’t spending time with her family she is fishing with her husband on Lake Michigan.
Joann Heim, graphic designer for Fitness Forum Sports & Wellness (FFSW), LifePlex, and Holm Medical Clinic (HMC) brings to her role creativity and a wealth of experience with in the businesses. Joann has an associates degree in Liberal Studies (concentration in business) 1997 from Ancilla College with continuing education in Microsoft and website design. She has held various management roles at HMC including patient insurance services, and human resources management since 1989 and is currently office manager. In 1997 Joann joined FFSW in a variety of roles including business accounting and member management. Her experience in various aspects of the business has enabled her to understand the mission and bring clarity and branding to printed materials. Since 1997 she has created exciting newsletters, professional brochures, and informational fliers that have gained the acclaim of publishing companies. Joann is married to Barry and they have two sons Jordan 20 and Carsen 16.
Erin Ringer has been with Fitness Forum Sports and Wellness since 1992. Teaching water aerobics at Ancilla College, Swan Lake and Super 8 motel through the years. Erin is certified in Silver Splash, Silver Sneakers MSROM and YogaStretch. She continues to continue your education by participating in workshops such as Wellness Coach Workshop and courses provided by Arthritis Foundation. Erin loves the outdoors and caring for animals.
Mewsette Cartwright- AFAA Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, Fitness Assistant, Dance and Marketing Coordinator, Mewsette has been a with the Fitness Forum Sports & Wellness since April 2006. She has been teaching yoga, silver sneakers, dance aerobics and personal training. Her certifications are YogaFit, SilverSneakers MSROM, Silver Sneakers Stretch, Zumba, AFAA and also currently studying for her (RYT 200) and will be registered with the Yoga Alliance in March 2009. Special Interest include: GOD, family, ballroom dancing, yoga and overall fitness. Being able to ride my horse and playing softball with my husband.
Kim Richey - graduated from Saint Joseph's College in 2001 with honors with a BS in Physical Educatin with her emphasiss in Athletic Training. Kim completed the A.C.E. Personal Training course in the summer of 2007 and has held a certification with the National Athletic Traininer Association since 2002. During college she participated in NCAA division 2 track and field. She currently works full time as an athletic trainer at Ancilla College and resides in Plymouth with her husband. In her free time she enjoys working on the family farm.
Maria Schmit -has been an instructor for the aquatics department since 2007 teaching water aerobics and finning classes. Maria is certifed in SilverSneakers Splash, SilverSneakers MSROM and CPR/AED. She has taken an additional course in Aquatics from the Arthritis Foundation. Maria is a Christian and is very involved in her church. She is devoted to her family and enjoys traveling to new places.
Dennis Rippy - Dennis is the head of Health and Physical Education at John Glenn High School. He has been a teacher and coach for 31 years. He has a Masters Degree in Secondary Education, Business and Physical Education. He also has experience coaching Football, Track and Field, Wrestling, and Cross Country. He has been honored with several Coach-Of-The Year awards and has coached many All-State athletes. He was the first Physical Education teacher to be named corporation teacher of the year. In addition to these awards, he was named in the "Who's Who Among National High School Teachers" in 2004 and 2006. He has also received the Falcon Award for outstanding service to the athletes at John Glenn. At the same time he received the Northern States Conference (NSC) Lifetime Service award for outstanding service in the NSC. He enjoys weight lifting, playing basketball, hiking and fishing in Colorado and spending time with his family.
